In this image I wanted an "Old Masters" vibe with a modern day subject. My work is inspired by Renaissance old master paintings so often my lighting and editing style will reflect that look.
Nikon D750, 85mm, f/3.5, 1/200, ISO100. Two lights: one 60" octa overhead, and 7' diffused umbrella camera left. Edited in RAW, PS, Exposure X6 and ICP (Infinite Color Panel) and one of my textures added in post.

I do not understand this circle behind him. Maybe it's all good, but seems a bit weird (the rest is perfect). That's why only 4 :).
It's a reference to religious imagery of paintings from the old masters.
That's what I thought (aureole). But I also thought it's rather reference to painters like Rembrandt or Rubens which I associate more with portraits of mighty people rather than saints. I tried to imagine it with out aureole and I like it better ;)
Great execution for a classic painting inspired style
Thank you!
OMG your work has such a painterly look, in a great way BTW! Love it and yes I think you nailed the old masters look.
