Stuck indoors during the pandemic, I tried to photograph things inside the house but outside my comfort zone. Not having experimented much with still life photography, the subject I chose this particular day was “forks.” I probably tried fifty different arrangements over the course of the day, but not much was appealing to me until the end. I was using a small light behind the forks, and the diffuser that attaches to the light fell off. The small individual LEDs in the light ended up casting multiple shadows on the forks. I loved the way it landed and knew this was my final shot. It’s amusing how some of the best photographs happen by accident.
