After months of planning and years of dreaming, my trip into Tombstone Territorial Park with Jacob Klassen, Bryce Mironuck, and Joshua Snow was a huge success. The months leading up to our trip were full of unknowns due to the complications of Covid-19. However, we made it, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable eight days in the backcountry I've ever had.
These mountains are unlike anything I've seen: no snow, no signs of life, just pure, dark, ominous rock faces. Coupled with the moody conditions we received all trip, this area was a landscape photographer's paradise.
Pictured here is Tombstone Mountain, the jewel of the park. On our second day, a few of us made it down to this river. Right away, the river-bend caught my attention, and within minutes I settled on this composition. Thankfully we arrived well before any good light, so I was able to work slowly and methodically to nail this shot. Not only that, I was able to spend a good hour or so basking in the sun while soaking in the grand view in front of me. One of many incredible moments during our trip!
