The Vortex

Sharing the first image from my recent trip to Bhuj in the Western most part of India. Bhuj has one of the most accessible dark skies in India within easy reach of civilisation. The challenge as always is to find interesting foregrounds.

This part of the gorge had a narrow ledge which was just enough to plant my two feet and two legs of the tripod, the third had to lean against a sloping rock surface. The next challenge was that these sheer rock surfaces had little holes being used by birds to nest. It would be easy to startle a bird 🦅 and get knocked off the narrow ledge straight into the river! Not a pleasant thought especially since I have learnt that there were crocs upstream of the river 🤯

Photopills used to line up the composition with Polaris.
