Northern lights above the Inari Holiday Village

When dreams come true! 💫

This week, I'm sharing a very special project with you: The Aurora Holiday Village, located in the small village of Inari, right in the heart of the Arctic Circle in Inari, Finland. 🇫🇮

For almost 8 years, I dreamed of this very moment! And now, I even had a dream photo assignment: Photographing the Hotel's Aurora Cabin.
So of course, I had to make sure to photograph them with their name-giving nature phenomenon, the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights.

As it turned out, it was easier said than done, since I checked multiple aurora apps, weather forecasts, sun radiation activities and webcams for many days. But nature is not as predictable as we all would like it to be, so the forecasts for this specific day were not good. But then out of a sudden I heard someone at the hotel speaking "the Northern lights are really strong today", so I immediately stopped my dinner, ran to the hotel room, grabbed the camera gear and put on 6 layers of clothes and ran to the Aurora Cabin.

That day, the sun radiation activity was that strong, that I could already catch a glimpse of the Lights over the village, despite its light pollution. When I arrived by the lake, the Aurora was directly above me and kept moving around each and every second. And I can tell you: Normally, the Aurora looks stronger on photos than in reality, but at this very day, I could see the Northern Lights dancing vividly across the night sky. 🤩
