Shelter from the Wind

This image was taken about a half hour after my White Pelicans image already posted here at Fstoppers, I had reached the Pacific it was early afternoon. The wind had picked up like it does often at the ocean, I was leaning into it and could feel the sand hitting my exposed flesh feeling like little pins and needles jabbing me. I was not detered and continued walking up the beach in search of something to photograph when I came across this group of what I believe are Sanderlings somewhat huddled together behind a clump of washed-up seaweed all standing on one leg experiencing the shelter it provided them. I was about 50 feet, (15m) away when I croutched down to one knee to get this shot.
I love this photo I have an 8x10 framed on my living room wall and had been working on presenting that image here, however, before I was ready to post it I had watched a YouTube video about Composition Tips. My takeaway was that perhaps a re-crop might tell a more compelling story. I like this image as well as the one on my wall and I'm probably emotionally attached to each, remembering the windblown sand.
So if you are inclined, when viewing this image take a piece of paper and cover the left side of the image and let me know which you think is a better image. Thanks very much if you make the effort, in advance!
