This sequence of images of the maiden flight of Firefly Alpha occurred 9/2/2021. I have had this thought of composing it for some time but didn't have software or know how. This week I am trying the free trial of Affinity Pro which yielded the montage. It is not unheard of the first time a new rocket is being tested that it will go awry. But happy to report Firefly Alpha has had successful flights in 2023.
Images shot handheld, 750 mm effective focal length.
I'd love to see it if the background for each part went from light blue to dark blue like in a sequence, also if the width of each image got slightly wider from picture to picture, maybe with the exception of the last one, like a color and width climax on the second last image... also it somehow disturbs a little that the noise level on these is a little bit different, so denoising the background to the same degree would also add to it in my eyes. But who am I to tell - wow, what a sequence.
Thanks for the input, it's much appreciated!
It was the first - and so far the only - image I have processed like this. And your feedback definitely will help me in the future when I combine images like this.
I selected these images out of the many more that I took as it was launched, through the detonation and subsequent explosion to show different stages of the event. The sky color closer to the horizon was much less concentrated then higher up where the rest of the images were taken. Possibly my zooming in also affected the color.
