Designed by Catalan architect, Lluís Domènech I Montaner and built between 1905 and 1908, the Palau de Musica Catalan is a unique masterpiece of architectural design and is deservedly designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Upon encountering the striking exterior facade in the confines of narrow Amadeu Vives street, I knew I was in for a unique architectural experience. After climbing and photographing elements of one of the lovely staircases and entering the lower floor of the hall, I was blown away by the intricacy, color and detail of the interior.
The full perspective required ascending to the balcony by more beautifully, designed staircases. As is par for the course, I had to wait patiently for a couple tour groups and wandering individuals to leave the scene. Nothing I could do about the organist and stage crew and the unfortunate movie screen as they were preparing for that evening's concert.
I shot four handheld vertical images using f8/1/125th and ISO 4000 on my Sony A7RIII with its 24-105 f4 G Master at the full 24mm to create the pano. This enabled me to incorporate as much vertical and detail information as possible.
After importing into Lightroom I put them through DXO's exceptional PureRaw 3. I do lots of handheld low light/high ISO photography and PR 3 does a great job eliminating noise and maintaining detail. I then merged the four DNG files into a pano in LR and did a little clean up in Photoshop which produced a 13,332x7120 pixel 2.7 GB file.
