Jeffrey, sounds like it made a big impression, I hope not literally. These can get big, upwards of five feet, sometimes they’ll tolerate handling other times not so much.
If you can’t tell this youngster (about 18”) wasn’t thrilled encountering my camera. After a few photos, I backed off and it hurried off straight past me. Within a couple of minutes I notice a road runner a few yard further away.

The one in the Grand Canyon definitely left an impression! I'll never forget that one - it was definitely on the larger side and startled a trio of us!
I remember running into one of these on a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon! Quite the experience!
