Fine Line Between Prosper or Perish / Grasses On The Edge

This is a hot spring in the Mud Volcano area of Yellowstone N.P. If you haven’t heard I love my grass(es) (sledge and rush, too), so when I saw the flourishing lush garden I couldn’t resist composing and image. I went with what was the strongest and most obvious to me. This meant maximizing the amount of grass and following the curvature of the water’s edge. The bright yellow flower are probably yellow monkey-flowers and the bare patch of ground in the upper right my best guess is that it’s just too hot for any plant-life. In this area it’s fairly common the see patch of ground (mud) free of snow with no obvious thermal features visible. In the summer they would be dry as a bone the winter mud is from snow melt not ground water.
