Showering with smoke
A Himba woman in a small village near Kamanjab / Namibia shows us in her hut how Himba women "shower". According to the local guide, Himba women only have contact with water three (3) times (!) in their lives: the first time at birth, the second time at marriage and the third time after death. Men and children come into contact with water much more frequently. Himba women "shower" with smoke. A special herbal mixture is prepared, lit and all parts of the body are subjected to a "smoke shower" with the smoke.
