Sometimes one frame is not enough or two frames are just better. Sure I guess I could have backed off and either made one image using 1:1 ratio or cropped to the same format. But neither are within my usual train of thought, but combining two (or more) frames to get the composition I want is. Not my usual workflow with close-ups either though. But I have done it a few times as I have here. I refer to these as “Franken-flowers”.
My wife and I left after a commercial job to go to Lake Powell for a week on a houseboat. As we drove across the desert at night it looked like it had snowed there were so many of these Desert Evening Primrose plants blooming. All the way from our home in Eastern New Mexico up to Bullfrog Marina in Utah, they were out all over.
Very cool story Nathan thanks for sharing. A few years ago while I was in Joshua Tree on morning the desert around the campground was litter with patches of them, initially I thought the wind had scattered some campers cache of tissues and/or paper towels. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.
