There was a time when I drove up to this spot. I am told it is now closed to motorized traffic and the hike is kind of long. I loved that place.

I've heard BLM close the road to Duel at Diablo location which is possibly the route you took with the last mile over rollie-pollie river stones !?

Sound like it. I didn't know the road was a named place. I found it by accident one November afternoon.

No, or it might I’m not privy to it my reference was to the movie Duel at Diablo, 1966 James Garner, Sydney Poitier, Bibi Anderssen and Dennis Weaver. I don’t know if you call recall locations you’ve been with movies you’ve seen but this may be a fun one to try the first 10 minutes or so. Great location.

I am not familiar with that movie. I had an interesting encounter with a rattlesnake there. I was standing on one of those little overhangs that are so common there, setting up my tripod. I looked down and this little prairie rattler crawled out and slithered off between my boots. Around the corner from the location you photographed.

You know 80% of rattlesnake bites are classified as harassment of the snake, and 50% of those case are alcohol influenced.
