The Alhambra in Granada (Spain)

Etymologically, 'Alhambra' in Arabic is al-Ḥamrāʼ (اَلْحَمْرَاء, 'the Red'), derived from the full name al-Qal'a al-hamra ('red castle'). In its evolution, Spanish inserted a 'b' between the 'm' and the 'r', as in 'carpet', which in Classical Arabic meant 'redness', written as al-humra, due to the colour of the stone.
