The BMW header and grille is probably one of the most iconic designs in the world, so the idea with this image was to capture something abstract, yet instantly recognizable.
To effectively light the header and grille, we set our exposure to 5s and walked a small LED light rig along the lines and curves of the car body. We took multiple shots in order to properly expose every line. Then we turned on the headlights, set our exposure to about 1/100s, and voila...
The shots were then composited and blended together in Photoshop - the anamorphic-like flares were created using a standard soft brush - and some final sharpening and color grading was applied to give the image that extra pop.
