Coming to you from Kayleigh June, this excellent video tutorial will show you an efficient and effecting workflow for retouching skin in Photoshop. When it comes to editing skin, the important thing to remember is that, in general, less is more. The biggest mistake new photographers tend to make when editing portraits is simply overdoing it by editing out every little blemish or the like until the person essentially looks artificial. People need some variations to appear human, and perhaps the most crucial skill professional retouchers have is a good sense of balance. One of the best things you can do is to finish an edit, then table the image for a day or at least a few hours. After this, come back to it with fresh eyes and reevaluate your work. You might find that you want to pull it back just a little. Check out the video above for the full rundown from June.
