The Best of the Best: A Review of the Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM Lens

Few lenses create images as instantly magical as the Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM. So, how does this beast perform? Check out this great video review to find out.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video review takes a look at the Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM lens. Being a long telephoto lens with an extremely wide aperture, the EF 200mm f/2L seems intended for sports, wildlife, and photojournalism usage, and while it certainly fits in well in those genres, it has also found a second home as a premium portrait lens, sought after for its narrow depth of field, telephoto compression, and sharpness that come together to create images that seem to pop right off the screen. One exciting tidbit is that as amazing as the 200mm f/2L is, it is now discontinued on B&H, lending more credence to the rumor that Canon is planning to update it with an RF mirrorless version. Nonetheless, it remains my favorite lens, and if you can't wait for the RF version, I fully recommend picking up a used version. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts.
