Can Nikon's Latest Lens Keep Up With the Demands of High-Resolution Photos and Video?

400mm f/2.8 lenses are one of the standard pieces of gear for professional sports and wildlife photographers, and given their extreme designs, they often contain some of the best technology and features a company can offer. The new Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens is no stranger to that trend, and this great video review takes a look at if it can keep up with the demands of 45-megapixel images and 8K video.

Coming to you from Matt Irwin Photography, this excellent video review takes a look at the new Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens in tandem with its natural companion, the Z 9. While pretty much any 400mm f/2.8 is already going to be a mightily impressive lens, Nikon's latest offering takes things a step further by including a built-in 1.4x teleconverter, allowing the lens to instantly turn into a 560mm f/4 lens. The added benefit is that because the teleconverter is built in, it has been optically matched to the lens and will provide better image quality than a standard teleconverter setup would. Add in all the usual features you would expect in such a lens, including vibration reduction, rugged weather-sealing, and impressive autofocus, and it looks like quite the performer. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Irwin on the combination.
