A First Look at the Impressive Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S Lens

The new Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S lens has arrived, and with it comes some of the company's most extreme design and impressive optical performance. And while it looks impressive on paper, can it hold up in the real world? This great first look video examines the new lens and the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in usage.

Coming to you from Matt Irwin Photography, this excellent first look video takes a look at the new Nikon NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S lens. 85mm lenses with wide apertures have long been some of the most popular choices out there, particularly for wedding and portrait photographers, and as such, manufacturers often use them to showcase some of their most impressive capabilities. And while it used to be that such lenses were not particularly sharp near their maximum apertures, as we have moved into the mirrorless age, it has been mightily impressive to see just how far they have come, with very good image quality even at apertures like f/1.2 or f/1.4, which is sure to please bokeh fanatics who love to shoot wide open. Of course, such lenses are not particularly cheap, but for those who want maximum image quality, they are hard to beat. Check out the video above for Irwin's full thoughts on the new lens.
