A Look at an Interesting and Unique Lens From Sony

Once you get wider than 20mm, you generally do not encounter apertures wider than f/2.0, save for a few rare circumstances. One such option is the Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM, which positions itself as a fantastic creative tool for a wide variety of uses, and this excellent video review takes a look at the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice.

Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video review takes a look at the Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lens. A while back, I reviewed Sigma's 14mm f/1.8 Art lens, and it was, by far, one of the neatest lenses I have ever used — so much so that I ended up purchasing one for myself after I sent my review unit back. The ultra-wide aperture and focal lengths are quite a challenge to create compelling images with, but when you get it right, they are uniquely interesting. It is not the type of lens you will use for the bulk of your images, but it is perfect for when you need to create something a bit out of the ordinary, and for astrophotographers, events, and wedding photographers, it can be quite the option. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts on the lens.
