Still Can't Get a Fujifilm X100VI? Here Are Some Alternatives to Consider While You're Waiting

Right now, it seems like nobody has the new Fujifilm X100VI for sale unless you’re willing to pay a hefty premium over the retail price. But are you really ready to pull the trigger on one, or still on the fence about it? Never fear—help is at hand.

There’s some serious FOMO going around the photography community at the moment, as everybody seems to be scrambling to get the current hot, new thing—Fujifilm’s latest release in their stunningly successful X100 series, the Fujifilm X100VI. As an owner and user of the previous X100F model, I number myself among the fans of these wonderful cameras with their unique, hybrid optical/digital viewfinders. In addition to the amazing viewfinder, you get fantastic image quality from their APS-C sensors, Fujifilm’s renowned color science, and a leaf shutter that allows you to sync your flash at high shutter speeds—all in a carry-anywhere, compact form factor that is almost pocketable.

What’s not to like?

Despite all the breathless hype, however, the X100VI does have some competition. Some of the alternatives might even surpass the X100VI in certain features and specifications, and they also have the advantage of actually being available to purchase right now!

Kaiman Wong has been reviewing photography gear online since 2009, and I’ve been a fan of his YouTube channel, Kai W, for some time now. In another of his wonderfully entertaining and informative videos, Kai discusses the X100VI with his friend Lok, who’s a regular guest in his videos. I particularly appreciate the almost deadpan, no-nonsense delivery of Kai’s reviews. He talks about photography and photo gear in a chatty and accessible way that feels like a conversation over a beer with a friend. Despite the enjoyable and light-hearted banter that always ensues when he and Lok make a video together, they are both extremely knowledgeable about the gear and the technical aspects of photography and videography, and always offer insightful advice for anybody trying to navigate the crowded photography marketplace.

In this video, they discuss the X100VI’s features and benefits in the context of some of the alternative cameras that might also be of interest to anybody who’s thinking about purchasing the X100VI. Additionally, there’s a nice section of the video that’s a kind of mini-review of some of the best accessories currently on offer to enhance your Fujifilm X100 experience.

If you don't have an X100, you're not a real photographer. Just go back to using crayons you pathetic plebs.
