A Year With the Canon EOS R5: Is It One of the Best Cameras for Video?

The Sony a1 and Canon EOS R5 hold the distinction of being the only two consumer cameras currently on the market that offer 8K raw video. And while the video specs of the EOS R5 certainly are mightily impressive, you might wonder how it performs in the real world, particularly with issues like overheating. This excellent video review discusses the camera's video performance over the course of a year, including 8K, 4K 120p, overheating, and more.

Coming to you from Gordon Laing, this great video review discusses the Canon EOS R5's video performance over the course of a year of usage. The EOS R5's headline feature is its 8K raw video capabilities, of course. That is certainly impressive, and while it might seem like overkill, it can be a highly useful tool, as it means you can crop to 4K in post or even to HD for a significant crop, allowing you to employ a variety of effects. Along with that, you also get a variety of other modes, such as 4K at 120 fps, making it a potentially versatile performer, though you will want to be aware of things like overheating. Check out the video above for Laing's full thoughts on the camera.
