Endless Shades of White Through the Lens of Yulia Taits

Endless Shades of White Through the Lens of Yulia Taits

Three years ago Yulia Taits fell in love with the process of conceptual photography. The hard work of planning, searching for the perfect location, and matching styles to create something beautiful and magical fascinated her. Yulia was hypnotized by the pure and almost fairy tale beauty of people having Albinism since she remembers herself. Yulia always knew that she will make a project dedicated to them one day.

It was not an easy task to find the models for the project: people with Albinism who don’t mind being photographed. Yulia was lucky enough to have one friend with Albinism, who agreed to be part of the project. He also added Yulia to a group in Facebook with albino people. She posted an announcement with the project details and was able to get contacts and models. It took four months to create the projects. There might also be a second part, but with slight conceptual changes.

People with Albinism are very sensitive to light and it was crucial to make them comfortable. I had to make breaks frequently, block any available light to make their eyes rest.

All the photos are shot with natural light coming from a big window in Yulia’s apartment. As a Photoshop artist she has a passion of creating digital fantasy worlds through her work and artistry. This project was different. It was an amazing experience and a big challenge for the Yulia to be able to create this beautiful photography without Photoshop.

All of the photographs were taken in white tones with no additional coloring. I’m excited to prove that white is not just one color! It has many tints, shades and beautiful tones.

To my question which is her favorite photo in the set, Yulia couldn’t give me a precise answer. Each one of them is dear to her on its unique way. She feels blessed and to have such a motivation from the models and their parents to create this project.

I feel a great honor that my subjects let me be a small part of their life.

Let’s sink into this magical world of endless shades of white, emphasizing the natural charm and individuality of the models.

Fantastic images, very surreal.

Considering how the palette is in theory so subtle these images have a really strong impact to them.
