How to Take Photos Like Alexey Titarenko

Alexey Titanrenko is a photographer that creates unique results on a consistent basis. It sounds simple, but he is truly a master of his craft and creates stunning, otherworldly images. Here is how you can take photographs in a similar style.

I watch many photography video per week, but few I have enjoyed quite as much as this one by Frederik Trovatten. Alexey Titanrenko is a Russian-born photographer who has created a style of street photography that I think about often. He has taken many images over the years, but his long exposure photographs of busy street scenes are what he is best known for, and why I know him.

In this video, you will see one of his most famous shots, from his City of Shadows series, where a cloud of blurry, indistinguishable people are floating past a handrail with a few recognizable hands reaching out. It is haunting, it is eerie, and it is brilliant. Whenever I am doing street photography I will try to do long exposure images of busy scenes, mostly inspired by Titarenko's work, and this tutorial by Trovatten is useful for anyone looking to do the same.

Also, as an aside, some of the images Trovatten gets in this video are superb!
