Infrared Footage Filmed With The RED Dragon Monochrome And A Drone

I just ran across an incredible BTS video on Vimeo which uses the new Freefly Alta Drone, Movi stabilizer, and RED Dragon Monochrome to create an incredible infrared look at a post apocalyptic world.

In the video above you can see the side by side comparison of the drone flying and the footage that it was able to capture. I was particularly impressed with their incredible stable and smooth dolly movements that would normally be filmed on a track or with a steadicam operator. Their setup in particular had the camera and Movi mounted to the top of the drone so that the camera could look upward (something that I've personally never seen before). Simple and ultra complex movements can now be created with almost any drone and I'm sure that we will be seeing more and more uses for this technology in movies and every day video production.

You can check out the final video, "Nostalgia" below.

This is an amazing video, Thank you very much for sharing.

Thanks for posting Lee! This is killer. I've always loved infrared landscape photography. You can to see the world in a new way. This is the first time I've ever seen it translated to film. Really cool

Fantastic video......

Wow! This is amazing work. Drone videos usually make me sea sick, but if I hadn't known this was filmed with a drone I would not have guessed that. Infrared or not it would have been great. The IR was icing on the cake.

Regarding drones there is one interesting company in Germany http://www.asctec.de/
and their latest Falcon 8 Trinity system https://youtu.be/OAR8plnN_10
