Aputure Launches STORM 1200x: A New Standard in Film Lighting

Aputure has introduced the STORM 1200x, a high-output, versatile point-source light designed for film and photography professionals. The STORM 1200x is the first product in Aputure's new STORM family, featuring a groundbreaking BLAIR light engine that significantly enhances white light quality across a wide color temperature range. This fixture promises exceptional performance for a variety of professionals, including cinematographers, videographers, lighting technicians, and photographers.

According to Aputure, the STORM 1200x delivers superior color accuracy and brightness compared to traditional LED lights, thanks to its five-color BLAIR LED chipset, which uses Blue, Lime, Amber, Indigo, and Red diodes. The indigo diode, in particular, enhances fluorescing materials, making skin tones and fabrics look more natural under light. The fixture offers a broad CCT range from 2,500 K to 10,000 K and includes advanced white-point control with ±G green-magenta correction, allowing for better tuning of light to match real daylight and tungsten sources.

Aputure has designed the STORM 1200x with multiple professional-grade features, such as a ProLock locking Bowens mount for secure attachment of modifiers, IP65 weather protection for use in extreme conditions, and several control options, including CRMX, DMX, and Bluetooth. These features make the light suitable for use in various environments, from high-end film productions to outdoor photography and small-crew shoots.
