I've been shooting real estate for about two years now. Today, I am shooting for my company, Simply Visual Productions, and another company, Jump Visual, which has been around for many years, and because of them, I have learned so much about working in this field. I have shot hundreds of homes and met many new people and worked with them to create photos that sell a home or space. I think it is funny that I do this because when someone thinks photography, I feel like real estate photography is the last thing they would think of. Aside from the photography aspect, I see aerial and video becoming more and more popular, which is one reason I have such an interest in it.
I started with Airbnb my junior year of college and continued with that through my senior year. While doing this, it gave me the idea to start my own business and rather than just take photos, take video and aerial to really make something out of it. Now, most of the work I do is either aerial or video. It has become a huge market for real estate, but is still new to some realtors. Having these newer products can make the realtor stand out amongst others solely because they take the time to show the house in a more unique way and spend the money to have it done right. It is these realtors that have a vision that make my job fun. Instead of just shooting a home, I get to be creative and show things in a way I think will make the home stand out. I still have a long way to go, but I am happy to be doing what I am today.
I wanted to share a video I spent a lot of time working on. This video was made to show the home, but rather than focus on just that, we wanted to show the interaction with the house by adding a family to it. This was my first go on a project like this; I directed, filmed, and edited it. My goal was to show the main features of the home while also bringing people into it to give the future buyer a feel for living in that house. I worked with Mary Premtaj (the realtor) on this video and used a bunch of her friends and family members along with the homeowners to make this "Creative Real Estate" video. I think that a video like this can bring a lot more attention to a listing than a standard video. I'm sure a lot more could be done to make it better, and I look forward to being able to create better content every day. I see a market for video like this; it is just a matter of finding people who are interested in going to the next level to make themselves and their listings stand out.
Nice video..Made me want to purchase that house:)
