5 Great Tips to Help You Take Better Pet Portraits

Whether you want to do it professionally, donate your talents to a shelter, or just want to create some nice memories of your favorite pup or kitty, pet photography can be a tremendously fun and rewarding thing to do. No matter why you are doing it, this excellent video tutorial featuring an experienced pet photographer will give you five great tips that are sure to help you get better results.

Coming to you from Adam Goldberg with B&H Photo and Video, this awesome video tutorial features five tips for taking better pet portraits. Of the tips, I think the most salient one is easily the importance of good patience. Obviously, pets are vastly different subjects than humans, and you can't approach them with the mindset and expectation that they will simply behave and pose as you need them to. It often takes a lot of time and effort, and you have to have a lot of different tricks up your sleeve, as different animals will respond to different cues and stimuli. If you really love animals, though, it can be a wonderful genre to work in, and it is a valuable skill to donate to shelters as well. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Goldberg.
