Alexander Khohlov, a multi-award winning photographer from Moscow, has done the incredible. He has put together a team to style people and dogs to suit each other. Although the dogs aren't the model's pets, it's a very well executed project with regards to photography, styling, and hair and makeup, and it's set up in a studio which draws the eyes to the characters, the person, and the dog in the photograph.
Alexander has many hotel clients based in London, Dubai, and Moscow, and he has been given medals for his work. In this project, he and his team try to convey the relationship between the dog owner and their dog. Dogs are bred for hunting, guarding, shepherding, or to fit in handbags.
What makes this work so good is that we can all identify with the project's purpose. We've all seen a dog look like their owner or vice versa, and maybe we've even looked like our dogs for a day. They play a significant role in people's lives, and the over-dramatized approach here invigorates it.
He's got many great projects with regards to portraiture and art photography. It's great to see the combination of humor and extreme sharpness and focus in the project, and his consistent quality of work from him as a photographer when looking at his complete body of work.
