The 15 Best NEOWISE Comet Photos We Could Find

The 15 Best NEOWISE Comet Photos We Could Find

A few weeks ago, I read some news about the rare NEOWISE Comet passing by Earth and being large and clear enough to see with your naked eye. I got up, went outside, and looked up to a bunch of cloud cover. Luckily for me and all of you, we can always hit up Instagram and Facebook for great photos other photographers captured.

I have learned that taking photographs of stars is much harder than it seems. The people who get amazing shots of the Milky Way behind beautiful foregrounds have put a lot of work into perfecting their craft. Getting a good look at a celestial event sometimes requires you to be in the right place at the right time. NEOWISE blessed us all with an almost equal opportunity.

Even though I spoke about the cloud cover above, my son and I were able to capture a few shots I was happy with on another night. This event was not only for one evening, and I think seeing other people post pictures of the comet made the whole photography community want to get out and try. Before long, people all over the world started sharing photos of the comet so I started making a list of the real jaw-droppers. These are in no particular order.

Nice work!

Didn't have the chance to go for a nice foreground,
So I just went for isolating the Neowise Comet on it's own.

taken with a Sony A7Rii, at 200mm F4.
Tracking the sky with an equatorial mount, and a stack of about 11 images I believe.

Congratulations on getting the double tail! Great shot.

Comet Neowise was definitely a nice break from everything going on in the world these days. I had some fantastic views from Iowa.

the stacked image is amazing..! well done. :)

Very impressive!

One of mine.... Standing on the Continental Divide. I was on the East site, camera on the west.
Nikon Z7, Z85mm

Nice shot!

I see quite a lot of images that are faked, sadly they get most credits..
I rarely saw images with a reflection.
This was mine. No trickery, just a nice image i think.

I didn't get the idea anything I picked was faked. But maybe. Great shot either way!

Cool that you found and liked my photo from our typical Dutch scenery!
Great selection of images! It was an awesome view that I’ll never forget. Really happy we can all see the night sky like this thanks to technology.

Thanks so much, glad you liked! It was such a beautiful scene.

Here was my take on Neowise as it went between Vasquez Rocks.

That turned out great! Thanks for sharing

I have one also :)

Cool idea mixing the car lights. Thanks for commenting, Nando!

You're welcome
Thanks for the compliment

Campfire and NEOWISE watch over Uta's Manti-LaSal Nat. Forest.

Great job incorporating such a relatable scene!

Thank you! its a 2 shot focus stack, both images taken a split second apart with the sharp bits merge. Its the only way I could get my foreground subject sharp, and the sky, since I was using a 35 1.4 on fuji crop

I shot the Rock Church in Cranfill Gap, Texas. As the comet and stars danced overhead.

Love that! The lights on in the church really make it a next level shot. Great work.

I really liked this one. I'm not sure of the photographer. A friend sent it to me. If you know the photographer, please feel free to comment to give them credit.

Looks like I didn't make the cut on this article ;) caught the comet in the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont. Big props to all who are featured here, beautiful shots!

These are all great! Here's a shot from a sunflower field here in Illinois.
