Effortlessly Make Your Images Pop With Capture One

Making your images pop in Capture One is now easier than ever, thanks to new AI tools.

Coming to you from Prince Meyson, this informative video walks you through the process of using AI tools in Capture One to make your subject stand out. Meyson demonstrates how raw files can look dull straight out of the camera and shows the traditional method of creating a new adjustment layer to paint out the subject. This old method is time-consuming and requires a powerful PC to handle the brush smoothly. With the new AI tools, this task becomes much simpler and faster.

Meyson explains how to use the select subject tool and select background tool. These tools allow you to work on your subject and background separately. By adjusting the exposure of the subject while keeping the background relatively unchanged, you can make your subject pop without affecting the entire image. Meyson also cautions against the halo effect that can appear around your subject's edges when increasing exposure too much. He recommends subtle adjustments to avoid this issue.

The AI tools not only help with exposure but also with adjusting shadows and contrast to further enhance the subject. Meyson shows how to underexpose the background slightly to create even more separation between the subject and the background. This technique is especially useful for studio shots where you want your subject to have more intensity and visual impact.

Meyson also demonstrates the ease of copying these adjustments to another image. The AI tools create a new mask for each image, ensuring that your edits are applied correctly to different subjects. He walks through the process of using the AI erase tool to refine the mask, making sure it covers the desired areas accurately. This feature saves time and ensures consistency across multiple images. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Meyson.

Sometimes we focus too much on the skin retouch but it's really the clothing that needs an adjustment. All the bodily features being defined from under the white outfit make this image a bit distracting in my opinion.
