Photographers and videographers who work on-location for their gigs need an easy, dependable way to haul and station their gear and grip kits. Many have come to rely on the RocknRoller MultiCart for this purpose because of its versatility. In this video, commercial photographer Kiriako Iatridis shows how he customized his MultiCart to make it that much better and may inspire your own modifications.
Previously, Tony Roslund showed Fstoppers how he chose to modify his cart which inspired Iatridis in his quest for more functionality. The changes to the cart’s design that are showcased in this video include making the top shelf easier to assemble, adding multiple crossbars to adjust the shelving’s height while maintaining the cart’s collapsibility, adding thread-on handles, and installing a nifty way to affix a bag to the cart.
If you haven’t stepped up to a MultiCart yet, you can find the base unit on B&H for a little over $200 and add on support equipment as you see fit such as the platform or two-tier shelving. From there, try out some customizations to truly make it work for you.
Have you made any modifications to your own MultiCart? Share your creative ideas in the comments.
I love to buy one of these cart, but no suppliers in Sydney Australia
G'day Omid. I just had a look to get one myself and I found that Dynamic Music in Sydney's northern beaches are listed as a distributor. Hope that helps.
thanks Dan, just contacted them. Are you interested to buy one?
I love these carts. I've had one for about 6 years. The mods are fantastic. The handles are a great idea!
Thanks Steve!
Hey! Thanks for the share!! :)
An audio guy I know attached hooks to the sides of the two push handles and holds his c-stand on it. Great mods to the cart Kiriako, hopefully Rock n Roller see them!
Thanks Doug!
I have an R10 with lower boards and the two tier top. It's already been replaced once as these are the cheapest made carts I've seen. It's hard to describe but there's only two little metal tabs that take all the force of the handles. The max weight of the R10 is 500lbs but there's no way you would want to push on the handles with 500lbs of equipment on it. That's what broke my first one. I will say that they stood behind it and replaced it free.
It's funny, my father in law said the exact same thing about those small metal tabs... We already have a plan for them if they go.
I find this to be a tad overkill, and only useful for transport.
I like something I buy for a job to have as many benefits as possible. In this case, a way to help move and transport the bags, pelicans etc from one point to another, and (as I found with this item) a way to get me up higher over people at a presser or whenever I need clear line of sight.

Is a great piece of kit that has done really well for me. I use bung cords to help with keeping things stacked and it's came in very handy for those times when 5' 11" just can't cut the mustard.
I used to have this item before I got the R12 Cart. I never used the travel smart ladder thingie after I got my R12. With the R12 it only takes me one trip when it used to take me 5 trips with the travel smart ladder. I sold it. With the R12 cart I can carry everything, includes c-stands, pipe and drape bags, bases.... everything.
Yup, Bert is right! It definitely cuts down the amount of trips you have to make! ...but I don't think it's over kill. I wanted to make the cart more user friendly and more multifunctional. The cross bars are an improvement on their table top design. And the handles, make it much easier to drive the cart, the handles are also great for hanging wrapped up cords.
Nice mods Kiriako. Glad my original video inspired you!
