While all the steps are certainly important, I think the one that we often mess up most easily is forgetting to remove all distractions. In particular with landscape photography, where you are often staring at the same scene and composition for a long time, it can be easy to get tunnel vision and focus so strongly on your subject that you miss distractions in the frame that can end up being a problem when you get into the post-processing phase.
