Five Essential Poses for Photographing Couples

Posing is tricky business, and it can be twice as hard when you add in a second person. If you are struggling with posing couples, this excellent video will give you five foundational poses for couples that will help you find success again and again.

Coming to you from our good friend, Pye Jirsa, with Adorama TV, this great video will show you five great poses for working with couples. Posing can be a particularly tough thing to master, especially if you are not an outgoing person and have trouble interacting with people easily. This can become even more difficult when you are working with a couple. That is why it is important not to just rely on improvising but rather to have some poses you can readily fall back on if you are having trouble or simply not feeling the creative juices flowing. That is not to say you should rely on nothing but stock poses, particularly since this can lead to a shoot feeling a bit stilted for the subjects and rob it of the organicism that makes for great couple portraits, but they are an excellent starting point until you begin to feel more comfortable. Check out the video above for lots of helpful tips from Jirsa.
