One thing I often struggle with on location is keeping calm and sticking with the plan. Because landscape photography often requires a healthy degree of planning to work with the weather and the light, it is pretty common to go into a shoot with specific locations and shots in mind at specific times of day. I often get distracted by spontaneous shots that arise on my way there. And while there is nothing with being spontaneous, the planned shots are often better simply because so much work went into crafting them.
