How to Set Better, More Attainable Creative Goals for Yourself

So, we're a couple weeks into the new year, which is normally about the time we all start to give up on those resolutions we made. That can happen for any number of reasons, most often the goals simply being too lofty or grandiose to be reasonably worked toward. This great video examines how to set better goals to help yourself develop more as a creative.

Coming to you from Lucy Martin, this great video examines the idea of creative goals and how to make them more attainable. I think goals are important, particularly when one is working for themselves and doesn't have the overarching structure of something like a corporate environment to provide built-in milestones. Martin makes a great point in highlighting that goals should be something entirely within your control so you're not disappointed by a failure caused by something that isn't even your fault. I also appreciated sharing goals with your friends or colleagues. When I started running seriously and set a new personal record goal for my mile time, I downloaded an app that let me follow the workouts of friends and share with them, and the social encouragement and group accountability alone made a huge difference.
