Ten Photoshop Tricks to Improve Any Photo

The beauty of being a photographer and using a tool like Photoshop is that you can learn new ways of editing that can speed up your workflow or make it easier to do. I can even take it as far as saying I don't think the creators of Photoshop know every single way of editing a photo, as it depends on the style of you, the photographer, and what you want to portray in your image. Nathaniel Dodson from Tutvid recently released a video showcasing 10 tricks that I didn't know, and I think will be very useful to add to my workflow and skill set when it comes to producing work for a client.

What Is Covered:

  1. How to add contrast in a non-destructive, easy way.
  2. How to sharpen an image using some keyboard shortcuts to see what exactly is being sharpened.
  3. How to edit the color of certain parts of a sunset or landscape image.
  4. A way to clean up skin, although I'm not convinced I'll use this method.
  5. How to change the color of anything, especially if you have a piece of clothing you want to suit the other colors in the image.
  6. How to apply a trendy faded effect.
  7. How to digitally relight an image.
  8. How to convert an image to black and white while still being able to change the contrast of the image.
  9. How to apply lens flares to an image, even if you don't have any in the image.
  10. How to apply cinematic colors and tones to your images, just like in the movies.

I have done photography and retouching for over 10 years now and what I’ve realized is that there is always something new to learn and different ways to achieve a specific look or effect. My advice would be to never stop learning.

Woah, this is incredible! What an absolute gem of a video! I thought I had a fairly decent understanding of Photoshop, but actually only knew like 2 or 3 of these. Love the black and white conversion!

Awesome video!! I use a couple of these. Changing colors of certain parts of an image and using faded effects is a great way to polish of an image.

Please S L O W D O W N ... it may just be me but you go so fast .... I like what you do ... I even bought one of your Lightroom Courses thru FS but I cannot watch it ..... please take a breath ... This was a good tut but I will have to go back and try to transcribe it to understand. Thank you
