My wife Bev & I thoroughly enjoy light painting with our home made light tubes. We discovered this style of light painting in September 2019. For this photo, we got up at 5am but by the time we reached this location the sun was already starting to rise. We had to work quickly to balance the available light with our light tube. We thought it was pretty cool to have the moon and the rising sun in the same picture.

...tHANKs for your comment George. I agree, I usually shoot lower to the ground but at this location it was not possible.

I like it... a lot! There is only a small window in astronomical twilight to pull it off.

...tHANKs Robert. Yes, it's amazing how quickly the light changes. When we do a shoot like this and come home with 1 or 2 really good images, we're happy.

At the first glance it's a great image, stunning composition and overall concept. I'd put 3 or 4 stars on it but there's a cloud behind the moon which simply can't happen. Also the moon is 3x - 4x times bigger than it should be and it's less sharp than the clouds, thus it must have been enlarged and photoshopped in.

I'm perfectly fine with such manipulations for artistic purposes but there shouldn't be clouds behind the moon. I'd shoot the moon separately on a longer lens to make it sharp enough after enlargement.
I just didn't rate it to not spoil the rating.

...tHANKs Michael. You are correct on all counts :)
