2.18 - "Needs Work"

This was a handled long-exposure shot of a woman on the Champs Elysees in Paris. She was invincible to everyone who passed her as she sat and prayed for people to passerby's to drop money in her cup every day on that same section of sidewalk.

I debated a 2 or a 3. I went 3 because i think its a great capture that tells an intriguing story. While I appreciate the hand held capture I would have love to either seen one where no one passes infront of her so she pops even more or you took an image with a faster shutter and composited her in. Nice work

2 for me, the idea is great, the long exposure is really well done with the movement that it creates.

What holds it back for me is... I don't like the scooter in the back. I understand it might not be an element you can control, but.. yea, it's in the frame, and it's distracting me from the woman.

And it seems like it needs to be turned a bit, it's not quite straight as the vertical lines of the building seem to be leaning to the left.

I disagree with the voting strategy of previous commentators. I have given this a 4. The image captures in one moment the plight of a person fallen on hard times and without words tells the story of a society that doesnt care.

Thank you John. That's precisely the sentiment I was looking to draw upon when capturing this image. I appreciate your perspective.
