This is an alligator, taken during the North American Nature Photography Association's workshop a few years ago in McAllen Texas. I had won a youth scholarship to their high school scholarship workshop, and this photo went on to be displayed at the International Photography Hall of Fame in St Louis MO, as part of an exhibit on the past, present, and future nature photography.

I like it but I think too much of it is out of focus for me. I have trouble settling on somewhere to look.

Gotcha, I've never considered that, and always considered the elbow and leg right below it to be the focal point. Thank you!

That certainly is the focus but since the rest is close to focus you don't get that isolation you would if it were more out of focus.

Fwiw, I don't have that issue when I look at it on my phone, just when I saw it on my big screen.
