Hi Jill. I gave one star. Hopefully, you’re not taking these contests too seriously but the images are here in a contest so they’re going to be critiqued so I feel it’s really important to offer reasons why a vote comes in low...
Obviously this is a proud moment for you and your daughter, and I’m getting the joy from the shot which is great. Technically though there’s a few things I personally think you could improve;

- try to get the focus nailed in on your subject.
- the highlights are blown out so the exposure is a little off with shadows not being very detailed either.
- there’s a very strong contrast feel, if you’re editing these try to take it easy on the contrast slider.
- the shot would have been much more involving/story telling, if we got to see the expression on your subjects face.

Hopefully this is constructive and I’m by no means a top photographer in any way! I just want to pass on a few things I’ve learnt ;-)
