Seriously 2 stars for about year I did not post anything here because of people being unfair I see nothing change since one year still everyone lowering the votes
I rate it two stars also, and here is why:
the environment part of the task is not fulfilled as I interpret it. There is no interaction between the girl and the environment, so it's hard to tell what the story behind this image is. I also don't see any geometricall convergence between the subject and the background.
Technically, the subject is not well enough discernable from the background, overall, the image is too bright. I bet you get a lot a clipping in Lightroom.
Frankly, I think people voted fairly for your image. But I'd like to hear why you think it should be more than 2 stars ?
My picture next to yours took me 4 hours: first to light 2 different scenes, to evaluate about 30 photos I took and select the best one, redo the portrait shot because the first time, none of the photos worked, and then go to Photoshop and put everything together. And finally, I got less than you currently.
Other than that I agree, but I don't think that it is due to bad will, I think, people have a certain idea of what makes a good photo and if something doesn't fit that schema, they are unable to appreciate an original idea. Which is why after some time, all photos start to look alike.
But for professional photographers whose income depends on meeting their clients' taste, this is probably a very healthy mindset.
There was zero cliping in Lightroom photo is properly exposed this is the vibe I was going for bright and happy, In terms of environment yes I agree it dose not tell this is dance orientated environment. About composition I like a lot and the bacground is nice and soft and overall photo is nice for me hard to judge because it is my daughter :)
I gave it a 2, the reason being that 1 star is a snapshot, which this is not, clearly, there are some technical skills a knowledge going into this image, a 3-star image is a portfolio worthy image, which I think is not, for that the separation between the background and the subject is too weak, and the subject "disappears" into the busy background. the composition is too plain and basic, you have a lot of nice lines and arcs in the image that you don`t take advantage of. It is a nice portrait, but the composition makes it not a portfolio piece in my humble opinion.
