I wonder how rare it is to see this place without clouds. This is a panorama shot during sunrise comprising 3 images using a Nikon D850, 16 mm at 1/200 s, f/8, ISO 64. After the clouds cleared overnight, the morning colors did nothing for me. The black and white conversion, I felt, added a more unique and fine art feel to this iconic location. The strong reflection in the tidal flat added to the concept of a floating or suspended jagged mountain that I was trying to convey while keeping it as minimal as possible. Heavy gradients were added top and bottom to maintain symmetry and accentuate the light from camera right. I love the reflection on top of the subtle details (e.g. ripple marks) in the sand. The small buildings and village at the base of the mountains, as well as the distant mountains in the background provide a bit of scale which can be difficult to show effectively in Iceland.
