On a lark I drove down to White Sands National Park with my car full of camping gear and photo equipment. Their backcountry camping spots are first come first serve and luckily they had one available. After a cloudless day of photography and a chilly night I woke up early to this spectacular sunrise and endless white dunes.
This image is a photomerge of 8 images taken with my Pentax K-5 @55mm f/10 1/13s with my smc PENTAX-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR. I used my Smith Victor tripod to get my iso down and track the horizon.
In post I used Adobe Camera Raw to stitch the photographs, brighten the exposure, color correct, sharpen, and remove spots/dust. Then I brought the image into Photoshop and made stitching edits to the sand where photoshop hadn't done a great job with the texture, and worked with curves and hue/saturation levels to finalize this image.
