Taken on a calm morning this fall at Bear Creek Lake, VA. My 2 year old son woke me up at 5am on our first camping trip together, so I thought we'd take a walk down to the lake. It was incredibly calm and peaceful, just the two of us and none else around. I found this composition, set up the tripod and started shooting.

I used bracketing, but only needed one frame that was exposed to the right. I used the timer on my camera to prevent any human introduced shaking, and then just enjoyed the view with my son.

As for editing, I adjusted exposure and histogram curve, increased black point and contrast, increased saturation and vibrance slightly, and added some sharpening.

How you enjoy. I'd love constructive criticism.

Since you asked for someone to comment I will try to do my best. I am by no means a professional critiquer.

I gave this a 2. I think there is potential here but, to me the light is just flat. I like the fog. I like the reflection. Although, I do think there is room for improvement in the composition. Perhaps waiting until there is more color in the leaves. This looks like it could also possibly work as a black and white.

I think this has potential and could be a 3 but to me it just lacks drama. It's mostly white. There's no color in the sky, there's no dramatic or golden light on the trees. I realize these are things out of your control but these are the differences b/w a 2, 3 and 4. You also don't have any photos in your profile so I don't have anything to compare this to.

I hope this helps. Feel free to take a look at my images. Especially the ones I submitted here. Best.
