"The Grand Alignment"

Taken June 24th, 2022. This alignment only happens a few times in one's lifetime, and the next won't be until 2040.

I mistakenly thought this would be a fairly simple shot. On site I quickly realized in order to even remotely get the starts to peak through I would have to take a panorama zoomed in just enough to have them shine, but just far back enough to capture them all when stitched since they are not all on the same horizon line (Note how high Jupiter and Saturn are.)

All worth it.

Shot on a Nikon D500 - 5 image panorama. The only "unorthodox" post-processing I did to the celestial orbs themselves was add a slight halo to accentuate their position. But I'm proud to say those beautiful babies are really there, even if there are just little dots of light.
