We finally got some clear skies a couple of weekends ago so I ventured out to a spot I've been eyeing up for a while - the William Tyndale monument near Dursley, UK. The Milky Way core has now set below the horizon for the rest of the year but there's still other areas to enjoy. This is the Cygnus region which is full of vibrant nebulosity and star clusters. Also, the smudge at the top of the photo is the Andromeda galaxy, which I wasn't expecting to capture but was a pleasant surprise.
Shot on an astro-modified Sony a7 paired with the Samyang 14mm f2.8 AF and mounted on a Star Adventurer tracker. Sky is 8x2 mins shots tracked and then stacked in Sequator. Nebulosity in the sky extracted using Starnet++. Foreground is 2 untracked shots to handle the wide dynamic range of the floodlights on the tower. Frames all compiled together in Photoshop along with most of the editing. Final tweaks made in Lightroom.
Great result!
Thank you very much. That's kind of you to say. :)
