Valley of the Gods
I was so happy to find this composition. While everyone knows Monument Valley, the nearby and equally gorgeous Valley of the Gods sees far fewer souls. As soon as you venture off the single gravel road that winds through the valley, you immediately feel transported back in time. I explored this region for 3 days before finding this viewpoint. I don't think it is a known photo spot - I had certainly never seen it while scouring the internet beforehand. Hiking up the steep and loose valley slope in the dark was rather precarious (and probably a little reckless), but witnessing the sunrise here was certainly worth the effort.
Shot as a panorama on:
- Canon 6d
- Canon 50mm f1.4 (I hate this thing)
- Feisol Tripod
The moon was in this position 2 days prior to me finding the composition, but sadly not on this day. It's composited in.
