This beautiful view was my reward for bouldering to the top of a rock outcropping with my camera and zoom lens on my back at Joshua Tree National Park. The sunset and car lights come together so perfectly to bring the horizon into scale, and sunlight's fade from an angry red to a relaxed yellow is the perfect companion to the ragged peaks at the horizon, with just enough light left to coat the foreground with just a hint of detail. Taken with my Nikon D610 and Sigma 150-600. I hiked and climbed for about an hour, and then did it again on the way back, in the dark. I knew it was going to be a bit of a sketchy trip, so I had emergency supplies, a headlight and extra batteries, food and water, and my climbing gear as well. It took two hours to get back but I was going slower and being careful on the way down, given how the dark impacts our depth perception. It was one of the most fun and beautiful climbs I've ever done. It felt like a perfect adventure.
