This was shot on the ring road in Iceland in December 2021 at sunrise, which at this time of the year is about 11am. Standing on top of a disused bridge in Skeiðarársandur (a volcanic outwash plain), part of an abandoned section of road, the combination of the decrepit infrastructure and volcanic landscape had a poetically apocalyptic vibe to it.
The island is pretty quiet at that time of the year which contributed to the strange vibes. Iceland is not as cold as one might think, even in the dead of winter, however, the short 4.5hr-long days can be pretty taxing on the mental sanity.
